“Firefly Lane” is an American TV series developed by Maggie Friedman that premiered on Netflix on February 3, 2021. The drama is an adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s historical fiction novel published back in 2008, with an identical name. The official teaser for the show was launched on October 14, 2020. The drama has got 10 episodes in all.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Synopsis: What Has Happened So Far?
The show explores the story of a life-long companionship between Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey. It starts in the 1970s with a teenage girl, named Tully, moving into the neighborhood of Kate, a completely introvert girl studying in the 8th standard. The incidents in the lives of both the girls act as the driving force for their friendship that would last throughout their lives.
A tragic happening brings these two girls together and they become friends. Tully is a bold and outspoken girl while Kate is shy and timid. They both grow together through their hard and happy times. Tully wants to be a journalist and hence, by the end of her final year, she bags an internship at a local TV station. Kate also gets a job there.
Their boss is Johnny Ryan with whom Kate falls in love. However, after realizing that Johnny likes Tully, she keeps her feelings hidden. When Tully is out of town for some work, Kate expresses her love to Johnny. While Tully’s career is going uphill, Kate marries Johnny and has kids. Kate’s daughter Marah sees Tully as her idol and Tully’s friendship with Johnny makes Kate jealous of her.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Plot: How Will The Story Progress?
The cliff-hanging ending of the show left fans awestruck. We find that in the tenth (last) episode of the drama there is a leap of some years – Kate and her daughter Marah are preparing to attend a funeral, and what left fans in shock is that Kate and Tully are estranged.
Now, there is a flashback just after Kate’s husband Johnny leaves for Iraq to work on a story. On the other hand, Tully quits her show and decides to work on a show of her own where she will be the host while Kate would act as the producer. Meanwhile, they receive the news that a bomb exploded in the area where Johnny was covering the story.
The ending left the fans with many questions. Did Johnny survive the explosion or died on the spot? Whose funeral Kate and Tully are attending? Why aren’t Kate and Tully friends anymore? What happened between them in those years?
There were many major incidents in the novel that didn’t find a place in the series. There are rumors that the makers are working on the rest of the story of the show majorly from the novel.
