Why we are celebrating World Environment Day 2020? Right from the beginning to till now 2020 has not been good for all of us. Firstly, the news of Australian Bushfires came in February and later the arrival of COVID-19 in the whole world. Till now this year has brought only destructions, epidemic, crisis, and several other issues. Major problems have been arisen due to human’s unlawful activities towards nature.

Human beings are very greedy, they always used nature for the sake of their needs. Their activities have always created unbalance in the ecosystem. Whatever we people have given to nature, now nature is returning the same to us.

The main motive of World Environment Day 2020 is to maintain the balance of our ecosystem. Now, the time has come to show concern towards nature. Nature is already giving hint to us through these epidemics and destruction. If we will not understand it today, the condition is going to become worst in the coming time. Now, we have to take collective measures to balance the system of our nature as well as the ecosystem.

Various species that are part of our ecosystem have become endangered and many have become almost extinct. The main motive of the world environment day 2020 is to contribute towards the ecosystem.

What is World Environment Day?

The celebration of World Environment Day was started on 5th June 1974. The main motive to start the campaign was to enhance alertness on rising environmental problems among people. World Environment day has now become part of more than 143 countries. They participate actively every year on 5th June to celebrate World Environment Day.

 

What is the Ecosystem?

The ecosystem can be defined as the surrounding where living organisms interact with non-living around them.

An ecosystem includes all living things like plants, animals, and bacteria as well as non-living things of our environment like sun, air, water, rocks, etc.

Components of Ecosystem:

There are mainly two components of the ecosystem:

  1. Biotic Component
  2. Abiotic Component

Biotic Component – It consists of living things which include plants, animals, etc.

Abiotic Component – It consists of non-living things of surroundings like air, water sunlight, etc.

The different types of the ecosystem are :

  3. Desert ecosystem
  4. Terrestrial ecosystem

5. It supports various cycles of our ecosystem like Nitrogen Cycle, Carbon Cycle, Oxygen Cycle, Water Cycle, etc.

So, this is why it is necessary to maintain the balance of our ecosystem. Along with these benefits, the ecosystem helps in crop rotation, wildlife balance, forests, etc.
