Medina was an accomplished and influential lady with whom he had a steamy and sexual relationship. Although Hugo has no recollection of what transpired the night of the murder, he is confident that he was falsely accused and is not the murderer. He is given a 15-year prison term following a brief trial.

Seven years later, Triana Marn, a young attorney working for a well-known legal firm, pays him a visit in jail and offers to assist him in reopening the case and attempting to establish his innocence in a new trial.

Hugo rejects the proposal, but Triana succeeds in overturning the conviction, leading to Hugo’s release from jail and placement on probation as they await the outcome of a new trial in which they will have to establish his innocence.

Along with Hugo, Triana attempts to decipher a convoluted conspiracy that landed an innocent person in jail. Their relationship won’t be simply because they come from completely different backgrounds. She is a lawyer with a hard-working, responsible, and promising future and he, is a ruler of the night, a former prisoner, and a killer to all but not to himself.
