Setting a battle between the dead and the alive, Highschool of The Dead is a Japanese anime series. Also known as Apocalyptic Academy: High School of The Dead, the show takes its inspiration from the manga. The first season of this horror anime was telecasted ten years back and its loyal fans have been waiting for a confirmation for Highschool of The Dead Season 2 ever since.
The show is a Daisuke Sato creation and its very first episode was released on July 5, 2010. After nearly 2 months, the last episode of Highschool of The Dead came out on September 20, 2010. The makers did release one special episode for the fans of the show after this, however, that was the last time when the viewers got the chance to see this anime coming up with something new.

What would happen if people do not die and get transformed into zombies – the undead? This is exactly what Highschool of The Dead revolves around. Addressing the zombies as ‘them’, Highschool of The Dead brings a horrific situation before the viewers where mankind is attacked by an epidemic, referred to as ‘The Outbreak.’ This crisis leads to destruction and alarm.
For those who are not into anime, Highschool of The Dead might not be the show, to begin with. However, with its loyal fan base as proof, it is safe to say that the series is definitely worth giving a shot if the genre appeals to you.
Highschool of The Dead Season 2 Release Date – Are there chances of a revival?
If the reality is to be discussed, the chances for Highschool of The Dead Season 2 appear bleak. The show is based upon a manga that was released years back. Then why are we uncertain about the coming of a second season for it?
Daisuke Sato, the initial creator of the series when it came into being, has passed away in 2017. Hence, for the second season to become a reality, somebody else would need to step into the shoes of Daisuke Sato which isn’t that easy a task apparently. Also, there has been a gap of many years since the series aired. It would need a lot of effort to rewrite, recreate and revive the show after this long. However, the extension of its plot is definitely possible if tried upon with interest and effort. So, for the fans – keep your fingers crossed and wait for the day when someone chooses to revive Highschool of The Dead Season 2!
Highschool of The Dead Season 2 Cast: Are The Characters Going To Be The Same?
Whenever Highschool of The Dead Season 2 makes an appearance, it is likely to see the same people playing their parts. This means for the English dubbing, Leraldo Anzaluda is expected to be back as Takashi Komuro once again. Jessica Boone is expected to play Rei Miyamoto and Taylor Hannah is going to be back as Saeko Busujima. Maggie Flecknoe and Mark X. Laskowski are expected to make a comeback as Saya Takagi and Kohta Hirano respectively.
In other roles, Monica Rial is likely to be the choice for the role of Shizuka Marikawa while Brittney Karbowski is the name that comes to our mind once again for Alice Maresato. Also, Illich Guardiola is most probably going to return as Koichi Shido, Melissa Davis is highly likely to step into the shoes of officer Rika Minami. Steven Knight is also a definite name that comes to our mind when we think of Tadashi.
Of course, if a new season arrives, the plot would demand different characters as well. Some other people would have to join and some might have to leave. However, who stays in and who goes out cannot be predicted accurately as of now. The fans should hope that Highschool of The Dead Season 2 becomes a reality and then the hints that would be dropped would help us to predict it all in a better way.
Highschool of The Dead Season 2 Plot: What’s Gonna Happen Next?
There is no certainty about the revival of Highschool of the Dead Season 2 as of now. However, assuming things to turn out positive, whenever the show makes a comeback, it is expected to continue from where the first season had left.
Highschool of The Dead may bring with it those answers that the fans have been looking for. We know that the outbreak did strike but how was life before it? Who or what actually led to the devastation? Since the manga upon which the show has been based did not have a proper conclusion, whosoever would take up Highschool of The Dead Season 2, will have to work on the plot and figure out how to fix the loose ends.
The makers would have to choose whether they would allow the world living like the dead or in terror to continue to be the same or whether they would want there to be a positive change for the ones in the society who are still looking forward to it. If the plot is chosen to be bright and optimistic by the end of it, then a lot of action would be planned to get rid of the zombies.
As of now, the possibility of Highschool of The Dead Season 2 itself is a figment of imagination. Any comments on what shape the plot would take would be like taking that imagination on another level. We(Fiferst) do not know how exactly would things turn out to be but we hope that a second season does materialize and expect it to answer the questions that the fans have been looking for.
Highschool of The Dead Season 2 Trailer: When Will It Arrive?
A trailer is not yet available for Highschool of The Dead Season 2. We cannot predict a date either for when we could expect the same till an official confirmation arrives. However, let’s hope that the makers come up with a pleasant surprise for the fans really soon.
