Vikings is an action-adventure Canadian drama developed by Michael Hirst that streamed on the History network. The first season of the series was shot in Ireland and aired on 3rd March 2020. The show wrapped up on 30th December 2020 after the second part of the sixth installment was launched on Prime Video in Ireland, before its premiere on the History channel in Canada from 1st January to 3rd March 2021.
The drama is based on the sagas of Viking Ragna Lothbrok, the legendary Norse heroes. So far the journey of the series has remained great. People have shown interest in it and they have been active viewers of the show. It has secured stunning 8.5/10 stars on the IMDb and amazing 93% critics ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
Now, after watching the sixth season fans are demanding Viking Season 7 from showrunners. So, let’s see whether their demands be fulfilled or not –
Are We Getting To Know Vikings Season 7 Release Date?
The series has been one of the longest-running Canadian tv shows. From its emergence in 2013 to now, it has built a big fanbase in the world. More than 89 episodes have been telecasted on television. Several fans of the series experienced that the drama wasn’t appealing after Ragnar passed away. However, the show wasn’t called off after the downfall of viewers’ interest in it.
In fact series creator Michael Hirst has mentioned that taking the storyline till Vikings season 6 was an innovative idea. While conversating to Variety in 2019, Hirst mentioned, “I always knew where I wanted the show to go and more or less where it would end if I was given the opportunity. What I was trying to do was write the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons. After six seasons and 89 episodes, that’s what I felt — finally — I’d done. We stopped shooting the final episode in November last year and I felt that I’d said all I needed to say about Ragnar and his sons. I told my saga.”
However, creators have given a big exciting surprise to the fans of the show. A spin-off version of the drama namely Vikings: Valhalla is on the cards. The show is in the initial stages of development and Netflix has acquired its streaming rights. It will show events from 100 years after the incidents of Vikings and will deliver insights into other popular faces of the sagas including Erik the Red and Harald Hardrada.
Netflix has previously shown a concept similar to Vikings in its popular series The Last Kingdom that highlights the dominance of Alfred The Great and its multiple characters are similar to Vikings. The fifth season of The Last Kingdom can be launched by the end of 2021 and it’s seeming that the craze of this series has played a crucial role for the network to go for Vikings: Valhalla.
The shooting of Vikings: Valhalla started in summer 2020 at Ashford Studios in Ireland but as some of the crew members of the drama tested positive for COVID-19 the filming of the show was temporarily called off. However, it didn’t take too long for showrunners to again resume the filming. The reports of trusted sources like Screenrant suggest that Vikings: Valhalla will be released on Netflix by the end of 2021.
How Will Vikings Season 7 Plot Be?
The show follows the sagas of Ragnar Lothbrok, a Viking who is a flagrant scourge and one of the most recognized Norse Heros. The drama delivers a tale of a farmer who achieves recognition by raiding England and ultimately turns out to be a Scandinavian king by taking help from his family and companion fighters. In further installments, the drama shows the fates of his children and their joyful outings in England and other nations.
As far as the plot of season 7 is concerned, we don’t have any official synopsis to share with you. Michael Hirst has cleared that Vikings Season 6 was the conclusion season of the series.
