The Witcher is one of the most popular and successful American television series that was premiered on 20th December 2019 on Netflix. The surprising thing about the drama is that even before the release of its first season Netflix officially declared to launch its second season in 2021.

The shooting of the second season had begun in London at starting of 2020. However, the way other movies and shows faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic the same happened with The Witcher also.

The makers were forced to put a temporary suspension on shooting in March 2020 as one of their cast members namely Kristofer Hivju tested positive. However, this hurdle didn’t create many problems in their path as they began filming for The Witcher Season 7 episodes from 17th August 2020. So, almost they took a break of 5 months which will surely affect the release date of next season.

The showrunners haven’t yet shared any details regarding the exact release date of the second season. However, several trusted sources like Tomsguide are suggesting that the next season can arrive by the end of October 2021. So, now we have to wait until Netflix releases any official statement about the premiere dates of the second season.

In the first season, we have mostly seen the story revolving around the novels The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. You will be surprised after hearing that these two books aren’t segments of the main series rather they are a pack of short fables that mainly includes characters from past stories.

So, components from these novels have been taken to customize the drama. Now, we have seen that Geralt and Ciri have discovered each other, that’s why it’s seeming that from next time show will shift towards the main series. However, Netflix hasn’t disclosed the name of the book that next season will follow.

But the first season ended with the confluence of all major characters and that’s why it’s appearing that events of the second season will be extracted from the next book. And, it’s none other than Blood of Elves – which is also the inaugural book of The Witcher Saga.

You can consider the first season as the beginning part of season 2. So, the second season will see what happened with Ciri and with her screak.

  • Freya Allan will portray the character of Cirilla “Ciri”.

  • MyAnna Buring will present his character of Tissaia de Vries.
  • Royce Pierreson will play his role of Istredd.
  • Mimi Ndiweni will be seen as Fringilla Vigo.
  • Anna Shaffer will portray the character of Triss Merigold.
  • Mahesh Jadu will deliver his role of Vilgefortz of Roggeveen.
  • Jodhi May will play his role as Queen Calanthe.
  • Adam Levy will be seen as Mousesack.
  • Björn Hlynur Haraldsson will present the character of King Eist Tuirseach.
  • Lars Mikkelsen will display the character of Stregobor.
  • Therica Wilson-Read will play the role of Sabrina Glevissig.
  • Terence Maynard will portray the character of Artorius Vigo.
  • Judit Fekete will be seen as Vanielle of Brugge.

Apart from them, some new faces have been added to the series. Kristofer Hivju will play the character of Nivellen while Kim Bodnia will portray the character of Vesemir. Yasen Atour, Agnes Bjorn, Paul Bullion, Thue Ersted, Aisha Fabienne Ross, and Mecia Simson will also play their respective roles.

Unfortunately, the trailer hasn’t arrived yet as the shooting of season 2 is on the way. There is still sufficient time left for its arrival.
