The first season of one of Netflix‘s spine-chilling horror series by creator Mike Flanagan, called ” The Haunting of Hillhouse” was based on a 1959 novel by Shirley Jackson.

The novel has now made its was made it’s way to Netflix on October 12 of 2018 and made fans go crazy over it.
The plot of The Haunting season 1 runs along with two timelines, following five adult siblings whose paranormal experiences at the hill House continue to haunt them in their present, and then there are flashbacks depicting events leading up to that eventful night of 1992.
The story of The Haunting follows Hugh and Olivia Crain and their five children as they move into the Hill House.
The Crain family arrives at Hillhouse hoping to fix it up and sell it, but it would not be a Netflix horror web series if things don’t go as planned.
Now, they are stuck there and are subject to hauntings. It affects Olivia the most and she ends up having disgusting visuals and then gets stuck in a horrible dream.
Did she ever come out of it? Hold on to that thought for a while, you’ll know.
The children deal with their own set of messed-up situations and well, ghosts.
For her children’s safety, Olivia takes terrible and dangerous steps. But when she’s caught, she falls from steps and dies.
The impact of their past still haunts them in the present. Their attempts to destroy the house go in vain. The ending of the series is nerve-wracking for sure, but justified?

The Haunting Season 2 Plot
The second season was introduced by the name “The Haunting of Bly Manor” based on the turn of the screw by Henry James on October 9, 2020.
The story of The Haunting Season 2 here, follows the events that follow a tragic death when an American nanny is hired to look after an orphaned boy and girl.
After the au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Smith and Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Eve) and housekeeper Mrs. Grose (Miller).

But as I said, it is never really a Netflix show until it is not filled with twists and turns!
What happens next is that centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean ‘gone’. Or, as Miller sums it up, “All is not what it seems at Bly Manor.”
